Rapid City Army Air Base.

He was one of ten airmen killed in the crash of
of the bomber, ten miles north of Rosebud,
South Dakota.

KILLED IN SERVICE WWII - plane crash near Rosebud SD.

Son of John E. and Sarah Emily Miller Sims.

James was one of ten-man crew aboard a B17 flying from/to Ellsworth Air Force Base. All ten were killed when the plane crashed.
This following is description of items included in auction of printed materials that referred to the crash that killed James Sims;
" Crash site found 50 cal. linked ammo found at the location near Rosebud SD where B17 and Ellsworth A...{misssing sentence}
found at the location near Rosebud SD where B17 and Ellsworth Air force base 10 man crew went down Dec. 13 1943 killing all 10 aboard. Crash location was 10 north of Rosebud on the John Batchlor Ranch. Includes photo copies of Todd County Tribune and Rapid City Journal along with Official War Department Report of Aircraft Accident listing 75% of the responsibility on the pilot and 25% due to weather with a full list of names of the crew."
