James Monroe "Jake" Campbell was the son of Robert Seaton Campbell and Bettie Waddie Thompson.

On 30 September 1933 Jake married Lucille Pauline Gray Smith in Covington, VA. They met and worked at the Rayon Mill in Covington. Jake was the last person to leave the Rayon plant when it closed.

Jake and Lucille had three childen: James Edward, Gene Herbert, and Ryland Monroe Campbell.

Jake and Lucille made their home in Covington, Leesburg and finally in Hampton, VA.

My grandfather had a tattoo of his initials on his forearm; the same place his great-grandson has his initials.
