Ruth Darby

Ruth Darby, 82, of 6040 Belpree Road, died Sunday May 21, 1995.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Martin Road Chapel of Schooler-Gordon/Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road, with the Rev. Randy Davis of Olsen Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Darby was born in Wichita, Kan. She married John E. Darby in 1948 at Topeka, Kan. He died in 1969. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Pennington in 1931.

She moved to Amarillo in 1948. She retired as a cafeteria manager for the Amarillo Public Schools and then worked for the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Railroad Trainmen and Olsen Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lee of El Paso, a son, Donald Pennington of Port Orchard, Wash.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Olsen Park Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
