US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1842 and commenced law practice in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the State House of Representatives in 1848 and 1849. In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress serving until 1853 and reelected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress, serving 1855 to 1857. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed law practice until his death.
