He enlisted as a Private in Captain Adam's company, Col. John Smith's regiment, 19 Apr 1775, and served to 30 Apr, 11 days, Enlisted 8 May 1776, turned out on alarm 18 Apr 1777, again 17 Aug 1777, and served 27 days; became Sergeant in Capt. Adam Peter's company, Col. Howe's regiment; also served 18 Jul 1780, to 2 Aug; Was representative in the General Court, 1795 and 1796, and probably General of the Militia; d 27 Nov 1807, and is buried in the North Bellingham Cemetery, near West Medway.
