Roy, as Miro was called, was the eldest of three children of Andrew Scholtz and Anna Skubik Scholtz. They were of either Hungarian or Slovakian extraction.

He moved to a farm in Kingwood Twp., Hunterdon Co., New Jersey when he was a child. His mother died young. His father left for Cleveland, Ohio to work as a machinist on the steam railroad, so he was left to raise his sister and two brothers as a very young man with the help of a housekeeper.

Roy married Olga Polazneck. Together they had three children. Their son Frederic is deceased.

Olga died soon after the birth of her last child.

A year later Roy married Lillian May Shoudt on Oct. 30, 1954 in Sergeantsville, Hunterdon Co. Lil raised the older two children, but the baby remained with Olga's mother.

Roy and Lil lived on a blueberry farm in Kingwood Twp. for many years before retiring to Florida. They returned to reside in Milford, Hunterdon Co. in 1975.

He was a lot of fun at family parties and had a great sense of humor.
