Spc. Richard B. Burress of Naples, Fla., attended Naples High School and spent his weekends mudding, fishing, canoeing and camping in the Everglades with his friends. He joined the Army in December 2005 to add focus and direction to his life. Before joining he worked at Skyangel, a Christian television provider where he met his wife. His easygoing manner and natural warmth instantly endeared him to all who met him. He died in Al Jabour, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device at age 25.
