1st Lt. Co. D and F North Carolina

Enoch Lawrence, wife Ann Belvin and eight of thier ten children migrated to Texas from Bibb County, Alabama in 1868 landing first at Port Jefferson in Marion County, TX. From Jefferson, Texas they traveled to Upshur County, TX. Accompanying Enoch and his family were his half brother William Lawrence, wife Sarah Cox and some of their children. Here they visited other Lawrence relatives and friends already established in the area. Enoch Lawrence and his family continued their migration on to the community of Gray Rock in Titus Co., TX. Enoch Lawrence settled and established a farm north of the present day Macon Church. The location is not known exact but it was west of the old Monticello store location and community and some distance east of the Hopewell church and community. Franklin Co. was created when Titus Co. was divided in several smaller counties.
