OBITUARY -- D. E. WATSON
..Funeral rites over the remains of D. E. Watson were attended by a great crowd Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church. Since Mr. Watson was among the business men of longest standing in the city, and his circle of friendships and associations was very large the church was crowded with those who came to pay their last respects to one who had been a very useful citizen.
..Mrs. Watson came to Bronson 38 years ago and through all these years has always taken a great interest in municipal affairs, being mayor of Bronson at several differents times, elected to that office regularly and taking the place three times to fill unexpired terms. He was a member of the city council perhaps for a greater length of time than any other citizen.
..The Baptist pastor, Rev. J. E. Woods, delivered the funeral message.
..Mrs. Forrest Stewart and Miss Jo Donoho sang "No Burdens Yonder" and "Sometime We'll Understand," accompanied by Mrs. M. D. McKean, who also played the prelude and postlude.
..Pall bearers were: J. L. Ritter, Dr. W. N. Heard, Mike Hoggatt, John Bowers, C. G. Stevenson and E. H. Wright.
..The children were all here for the funeral.

..David Emery Watson of Bronson passed away October 16, 1940 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, where he had been a patient for four weeks.
..The deceased was born near Milford, Nebraska, July 10, 1872 to David A. and Orlena Watson so was 68 years, 3 months and 6 days old.
..He was married to Eva Markle on June 27, 1900 at Webber, Kansas, where they resided for 2 years then moved to Bronson, February 16, 1902 where he conducted a blacksmith shop until ill health caused him to retire for a time. He then entered the insurance and real estate business, which he continued until the time of his death.
..To Mr. and Mrs. Watson were born five children, Mark and Ralph of Glasgow, Montana; Mrs. Bessie Colwell of Yellow Jacket, Colo.; Mrs. Ruth Donoho of Kansas City, Mo.: and Mrs. Mabel Nichols of Bronson.
..Survivors besides his wife and the five children are three brothers, Harvey (Harry) of Cortez, Colo. Rufus of Wichita, Kansas, and Earnest of LaHarpe, Kansas; also eleven grand children. One brother Luther A. of Cortez, Colo., passed away three years ago.
..Mr. Watson was a devoted companion, a loving father, a faithful brother and a kind friend to all who knew him.
..No community could desire a more honorable citizen and friend and his death has been a great blow to all who knew him.
..Interment was made in the Bronson Cemetery.
