John Ellis Tiller, Sr. passed away March 4, 2012 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Joan, daughter, Peggy Mitchell and her husband Bill; son, John Tiller and his wife, Denise, and stepchildren Chuck Roberts, Susie Sumpson and husband Dave Hinz, David Roberts, Don Roberts and his wife LynnDa, and Ken Roberts and his wife Janice. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Tidwell; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

John was born May 12, 1915 in Mitchell County, Texas the 8th. of 9 children born to John H. and Mary E. Tiller. He was married to Jo Ware for 60 years. After Jo's death, he moved to Kansas to be near his son and family. Love found him again and he married Joan in 2001.

Services will be Thursday, March 8, at 11:00 A.M. at Zion United Church of Christ. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.m. in Kansas City, Kansas. A second service will be held Saturday, March 17, at 1:00 P.M. at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel in Colorado City, Texas with internment following in the Colorado City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Kansas City Hospice House or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church are suggested. Condolences may be expressed at: www.porterfuneralhome.com
