GEN. C.P. SUMMERALL'S WIFE DIES; BURIAL IN ARLINGTON TUESDAY
Charleston, S.C., April 23 (Special)-Mrs. Laura Mordecai Summerall, 74, wife of Gen. Charles P. Summerall, retired, former chief of staff, United States army, died today in Roper hospital, Charleston. She had been ill for several years after a paralytic stroke. On April 10 she suffered another stroke.
She was the daughter of the late Brig. Gen. Alfred Mordecai, and his wife, Sally Maynadier Mordecai.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Col. Charles P. Summerall Jr., and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in The Citadel chapel, Charleston, at 3 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery on Tuesday.
Mrs. Summerall was widely known in army circles and in various parts of the country where her husband was in command. She took an active part in social life in the cities where her husband was stationed and was especially interested in the Army Relief society and the Soldiers and Sailors Welfare club in Washington.
