John F. Hinrichs died at his home southwest of Neodesha at 3 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 1954, of a cerebral hemorrhage, after being in poor health for the past six years.
J. F. Hinrichs was born at Springfield, Ill., on May 28, 1878, and was 76 years old at his death. He came to Kansas when a small boy and married Miss Anna Marie Gessler Nov. 11, 1900, near Winfield. They moved to Sycamore Valley in 1912. Mr. Hinrichs farmed all his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Miss Nellie Hinrichs of the home, and Mrs. Clarice Berger, Neodesha; three sons, Carl Hinrichs, Cherryvale, John and Frank Hinrichs, of the home; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Showalter, Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Frank Hinrichs and Theodore Hinrichs, Independence, and William Hinrichs, Neodesha; eight grandchildren and one great grand daughter. His wife died Jan. 6, 1945, and both parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. June 14, at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Stewart. Mrs. Blaine White and Mrs. Bert McCray sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Will Take Care of You". They were accompanied by Mrs. D.S. Lewis. Casket bearers were George Lay, Percy Jones, Fred Horner, Dave Hughes, Ed Scott, and Clark Stevens. Burial was in the Neodesha cemetery with a graveside service by Rev. Stewart.
