John Mudget Mack was the son of Col. Stephen Mack, the founder of Pontiac, Michigan. He married, April 8, 1827, Maria A. Keenay. Their children were:

* George W. Mack
* Eveline S. Mack (married a Mr. Rilley)
* Harriet L. Mack (married William Howarth or Haworth)

He opened the first hotel in Rochester, Mich, in 1828. He served as the Supervisor of Hamtramck btw. 1849 and 1862, and Magistrate in 1860. He was also the Justice of the Peace in 1862.

It is sometimes believed that Mack Avenue in Detroit is named after Andrew Mack (who was mayor of Detroit in 1834), however it was actually named after John M. Mack, who was a supervisor of Hamtramck.
