Major League Baseball Player. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was an infielder for ten seasons (1953 to 1962) with the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Athletics. After retiring as a player, he served as a coach for fifteen seasons (1979 to 1992, 1995) with the Detroit Tigers and was on staff when they won the World Series title in 1984. In 603 career games, Consolo had 260 hits with a .221 lifetime batting average. He died from a heart attack.
