Sgt. Jevon K. Jordan of Norfolk, Virginia attended Granby High School in Norfolk for three years before transferring and graduating from Virginia Beach's Salem High School in 1994 where he played football and competed in track. Before heading out of Hampton Roads and enlisting in the Army, Jordan studied political science at Tidewater Community College. In 1996 he got married and then joined the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He returned to active duty in 2006 to serve his country in Iraq. Jevon loved and cherished his family. He was stationed at Fort Stewart in 2006. His combat team deployed to Iraq late in 2007 and was expected to be in the Middle East for 15 months. He died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, from wounds suffered Mar. 23 in Abu Jassim, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive at age 32.
