A real pioneering woman! She grew up on a farm just outside of Toledo. For her sixteenth birthday she received a shotgun as a present from her father. At her Lutheran church in Ohio, she enjoyed playing the organ and singing with the choir.
As a young woman, she moved to SE Michgan with her parents were she worked as a stenographer. Martha and Walter enjoyed participating in dance at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios and went on a traveling trip with them to Cuba in the 1940's.
Martha and her husband enjoyed riding their motorcycles, but eventually stopped when the traffic built up and it got too dangerous. She also had a passion for learning and enjoyed many classes at the Senior Center in Livonia before she was no longer able to drive.
Her biggest passion was cooking! Not just the simple stuff but duck, rabbit and anything else her son would bring to her from his hunting trips.
