..Alley J. Chambers was born in North Carolina, March 26th, 1824, and departed this life April 18th, 1910 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.J. Suplee, in Anita,Iowa, aged 86 years and 23 days. In early childhood she came with her father's family to Illinois. In 1841 (May 9, Vermilion Co., Illinois) she was united in marriage to Simon H. Vestal, and settled in Indiana. In 1854 they came to Iowa and settled near Des Moines, living there until they year 1890, when they moved to Anita, which place has since been their home.
..Father and mother Vestal were the parents of twelve children, five of whom survive her, as follows: Mrs. H. S. Vestal (should be H.J.Suplee)(Nancy Evaline "Eva"), Anita; Mrs. G. W. Markle, (Mary Gertrude) Everett, Washington; Mrs. T.A. Thornburg, (Samantha Jane "Jennie") Linden, Iowa; Chas. Vestal, Des Moines; and Lincoln Vestal, Nucla, Colorado.
..Mrs. Vestal was a faithful wife and devoted mother; and walked many years in faithful service with her blessed Savior.
..Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 20th, 1910, at the M.E. Church, at 2 o'clock, p.m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. E. Shugg; interment taking place in Evergreen Cemetery. Mother Vestal's grandsons acted in the capacity of pall bearers, conveying the sacred dust, to its last resting place.
