GOUVERNEUR — George D. Macaulay, 77, RD 2, Gouverneur, a retired dairy farmer, died Tuesday evening (Feb 17, 1976) at the E. J. Noble Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past nine weeks.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Burr and Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur, with the Rev. Stanley E. Brown, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Gouverneur, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours at the funeral home will be this evening and Thursday afternoon and evening.

Mr. Macaulay is survived by his widow, Mrs. Belle Macaulay; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Fenton of Richland, Mo. and Mrs. Bruce (Maybelle) Bancroft of Gouverneur; two sons, Ernest of Brownville and Robert of Massapequa Park, L. I.; one brother, Stephen Macaulay of Gouverneur; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Russell of Morristown and Mrs. Smith (Katherine) Fuller of Hailesboro; 11 grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Macaulay was born in North Gouverneur Feb. 12, 1899, the son of Stephen and Jessie McTurk Macaulay. He married Belle Yerdon in Gouverneur Feb. 15, 1921 at the United Methodist Church, with Ihe Rev. William F. Skinner officiating.

He owned and operated dairy farms in the Gouverneur area until five years ago, when he retired due to ill health.
