Mrs. Catherine Wall Mallette, 61, wife of John Mallette, died at her home on East Main Street Sunday at 1:58pm after an extended illness. She had been confined to her bed for the past five months.

Mrs. Mallette was born in Rutland, June 25, 1874, the daughter of John and Clara Bileau Wall. She came to Gouverneur with her parents about 50 years ago and had lived here since. In 1893 she married John A. Mallette, who has operated a barber shop on East Main street for many years. The marriage ceremony was performed by Father Larramie, then pastor of ST. James Catholic Church.

Surviving besides the husband are a son, Gerrit Mallette of Gouverneur; seven daughters, Mrs. Evangeline VanNorton, Mrs. Catherine Jameson, Miss Eleanor Mallette, Gouverneur; Mrs. Agatha MacDonald, Mrs. Edith Purdy, Binghampton; Mrs. Margaret Edwards, Cleveland, O; Mrs. Ely, Indianapolis Ind, and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Wall, Gouverneur.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mallette were held in St. James Catholic Church today at 10am with Father Donald S. Gallagher officiating. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
