John Wesley Haley was the son of William Haley and Mary Ann Rhoads Haley. He married Kate Shaw, daughter of John Shaw. He worked for newspaper publishers all of his life. he worked for the "Every Evening" and for "The Star" as a printer and proofreader. He was a lover of nature and a fine fisherman. He had three daughters: Emma Haley, Martha R. Haley, and Mabel Haley. John Wesley Haley died at age 60 of complications of Bright's Disease at his home on W. 11th Street.
