Roman Catholic Cardinal. A native of Villa Santo Stefano, Domenico Jorio entered seminary in Ferentino, later furthering his studies the Pontifical Roman Seminary from where he obtained doctorates in theology and utroque iure in both canon and civil laws. Ordained priest in September 1891, he performed pastoral ministry in the diocese of Rome while serving as staff member of the Apostolic Datary between 1891 and 1918. Named privy chamberlain of His Holiness on November 15, 1901, he was reappointed on December 16, 1903 following the demise of Pope Leo XIII and again on September 9, 1914 following the death of Pope Pius X.
