Explorer. A fur trader and geographer, for 34 years he mapped the main routes between the Saint Lawrence River and the Pacific Ocean. He surveyed the West and found an economical route down the Columbia to the Pacific.

Gravesite Details

The current monument was erected in 1927 through an initiative of the Canadian Historical Society. A sextant originally decorating the top of the monument was recently removed for safe-keeping by cemetery staff.
