Howard W. Allman


Howard W. Allman, 83, died this morning in St. Mary Hospital. He lived at 117 N. 14. He was born September 28, 1879, at Newark, W. Va. He came to Manhattan in 1880.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He operated the Gillett Hotel from 1910-1918. He them moved to Independence, where he operated a hotel there. He became interested in oil operations. He opened the New Albany oil field. He returned to Manhattan in 1921 where he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada E. Allman, of the home: one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Tafel, N.Y. City. N.Y.; three grandchildren; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Russell, preceded him in death, January, 1962; one brother, Lee Allman, 410 Vattier; one sister, Mrs. Charles Tull, 531 Vattier.

Memorial services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Earl O. Minturn officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
