My great great grandmother, Mary Ann Daws Wire, married my great great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Wire in Ward's Grove, Jo Daviess county, Illinois on November 10, 1857. The year following their marriage, they moved to Stephenson county, Illinois, where they lived until 1879. At that time, they moved to Guthrie County, Iowa, where they farmed.

The couple had seven children: Orpha V., Lydia A., Cora M., Aeschylus B., Florence L., Matta A., and Chloe B. G.

They later moved to Palisade in Mesa County, Colorado, where their daughter Orpha lived. They both died in Palisade and are buried in the cemetery there. Their daughter Lydia Wire Baker was my great grandmother.
