PRINCETON — Lizzie Cole Ellison, 97, of Princeton Health Care Center, formerly of Lee's Mobile Home Park, Princeton, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her residence. Born January 25, 1911, in Speedway, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Nancy Alvis Cole. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a lifelong resident of Mercer County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ellison; sisters, Pearl Neely, Ethel Shorter, Eunie Cole, and Dorie Keaton; and brothers, Fred, Ray, and George Cole.
Survivors include one son, Roy Hicks of Princeton; two daughters, Margaret Hicks Martin of Massillon, Ohio, and Beulah Ellison Wimmer and husband Timothy of Athens; two grandchildren she raised, Reshinda Brown Blankenship and husband Greg of Princeton, and Vaughn Brown and wife Angela of Hickory, N.C.; additional grandchildren, Charles Ray Hicks and wife Barbara of Charlotte, N.C., Rena Martin, Larry Martin, and Ricky Martin and wife Michelle, all of Massillon, Ohio, and Tommy Higgonbotham and wife Carole "Annie" of Princeton; very special great-grandchildren, Derek Brown, Kassidy and Khristian Blankenship, Lindsey Law, Nicholas, Trish, Tracy, Tanya, and Tiffon Martin, Leslie and Rusty Hicks, Austin Brown, and Jonathan and Adrian Higgonbotham; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Basil Cole of Hinton; and special friends, Beulah Wills, Ethel Blankenship, Jewel Kessinger, and nurses and staff of Princeton Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Scott Hodge, Rev. Paul Hall, and Pastor Paul Stokes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Alvis Family Cemetery on Pisgah Road in Princeton.
Pallbearers will be Tony Reed, Timmy Wimmer, Charles Hicks, Larry Martin, Tommy Higgonbotham, and Shelby Blankenship.
Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the Ellison family.
