Major League Baseball Player. For six seasons (1997 to 1998 and 2003 to 2006), he was a pitcher with the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. Born Germemis Segundo Gonzalez, he attended La Chinita High School in Venezuela, prior to being signed by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent n 1991. After securing a spot in the Cubs' starting rotation, he made his Major League debut on May 27, 1997 and went on to produce a career high eleven wins. In 131 career regular season games, he compiled a 30 win, 35 loss record, with a lifetime 4.93 ERA, in 572 innings pitched. He died after he was struck by lightning.
