My grandfather, Eliodore Richard, lived in Williamantic, Connecticut with his siblings, while growing up and before joining the Army. As a Private Elidore Richard, he was stationed at Fort Devan's in Massachusetts in the year 1918, serving in Company L, 36th Infantry Division.

My Grandmother, Marie Anne Lussier, was living in Holyoke, Massachusetts with her parents and siblings, before she met Eliodore Richard.

Upon his discharge from the Army, he married Marie Anne Lussier on July 23, 1918 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Holyoke, Massachusetts and the couple moved to Saint-Claude, Quebec where they lived on a farm with his mother, Celina and his brother. Eliodore and Marie Anne eventually moved to Windsor Mills.

Eliodore and Marie Anne had 10 children: Dolores, Rita, Leo Paul, Hermance, Edgar, twins: Marie Anna & Geralda, Roger: called Albert, Lionel and Majella. Marie Anna and Geralda died shortly after being born.

After the death of their twin daughters, the couple moved back to the United States with their ten remaining children, where they lived in Huntington, Massachusetts for a short time before moving to Sanford Maine, where they lived with his sister, her husband and their children.

Eliodore was a carpenter up to the day he retired while living on Montreal Street where he planted a vegetable garden every spring. Marie Anne spent her time doing the chores that needed doing around the house and taking care of her family.

I want to thank my cousin, Lynn, for sharing the information she knows about my family, with me. I don't remember my grandparents, but I know that my mother loved them very much.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wants me now, He's set me free.

The Fallen Limb

A limb has fallen
from the family tree
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song
The good life I lived
while I was strong

Continue my heritage,
I'm counting on you
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through
My mind is at ease,
my soul at rest
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed

Continue traditions,
no matter how small
Go on with your life,
don't worry about falls
I miss you dearly,
so keep up your chin
Until the days comes
we're together again

God called your name so softly
That only you could hear
And no one heard the footsteps
Of Angels drawing near

The Golden Gates stood open
God saw you needed rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
