Deacon John Griswold
"He was the eldest son of the first Governor Griswold & brother of the second. As a friend and a neighbour he was hospitable and generous, honest, and honorable as a man, and in his faith and life exemplary as a Christian, to tell to those who knew him the place that he was burried and to offer his character for imitation to those who knew him not, This stone to his memory is erected."

The son of Gov. Matthew & Ursula (Wolcott) Griswold, he married Sarah Johnson on Nov. 5, 1772.
