He was a native of Toombs County and resided most of his life in Toombs and Montgomery counties, He was a retired carpenter. He was an active ROTC, was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Church of God by faith. He was preceded in death by his father, C.B. Claxton and one brother, Tommy Claxton.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Claxton, Uvalda; three step-daughters, Sue Ellen Sharpe, Uvalda, Debbie Fowler and Elaine Conner, both of Reidsville; his mother, Emma Lou Claxton, Uvalda; one brother, Ottis Claxton, Savannah; one sister, Luann Yawn, Ellabell; and four step-grandchildren, Bruce Conner, Charles Conner, Chris Conner and Rudy Fowler, all of Reidsville.
