Alonzo Clay Milligan
Birth: Sep. 16, 1846
Death: Jul. 28, 1920

Son of William James and Elizabeth Hemphill Milligan, Clay was the first of the Milligan children to be born in Mississippi. His five older siblings were born in Georgia. He served in the Civil War (MS 1st Lt Arty, Company A) and was captured in Vicksburg on 4 July 1863. His Civil War records describe him as 5'10", with fair complexion, light-colored hair, and hazel eyes. He married Emma Stanley on 24 Feb 1875, and they had one child, Effie. Emma died a few years after Effie's birth, and Clay never remarried. Emma, daughter of Alfred and Emily Donoho Stanley, is almost certainly buried in the Milligan Family Cemetery, but there is no clear confirmation of that guess.
