Doctor, third son of Dr. Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora. He first studied greek and latin under Melanchthon and Winsheim but later began began studies in medicin. After getting his degree he went to Jena where he became professor. Soon after that he became personal doctor of Elector Johann Friedrich II. After the Electors death he became personal doctor of Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg and later of Elector August of Saxony and his successor Christian I until 1589. After some riots in Dresden and disagreements at the court he went to Leipzig where he opened a private practice, but was again appointed as the electors doctor in 1592. He married Anna von Warbeck in 1553 with whom he had six children.
