Descendant of Major Edward Burleson
In 1918, she enlisted as a Yeowoman Third Class in the United States Navy.

She was the daughter of Albert S. Burleson and Adele Steiner Burleson.
On November 2, 1918 as Lucy K. Burleson, she married Charles G. Grimes at St. John's Church in the District of Columbia. President and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson attended the marriage ceremony.
They were the parents of three children.

Grimes, Mrs. Lucy Burleson, age 72, of 515 Kramer Road, died Sunday at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Charles G.; two daughters, Mrs. Adele Grimes Castle and Mrs. William T. Butt of Dayton; one son, Burleson of Christianburg, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Negley of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Bryant Smith of La Mesa, California; 12 grandchildren. Private funeral services Tuesday 10AM at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel. Interment Woodland Cemetery. No visitation. Please omit flowers. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
