US Congressman. He attended La Salle Extension University Illinois and served as a Private 4th Corps, U.S. Army, in Germany during World War I. After the war, he engaged in the building business, (1925-29), was a member of the State Democratic committee, (1938-42), was the Pennsylvania State supervisor of inheritance tax, (1940-41) and chief disbursing officer of the Pennsylvania State Treasury, (1941-44). In 1945, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth Congress, serving until 1947. He was again elected to the Eighty-first Congress in 1949 and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 60.
