Major League Baseball Player. Born in Aurora, Missouri, he was a left-handed pitcher making his debut with the Detroit Tigers on September 17, 1913. For seven seasons he played with the Detroit Tigers (1913-14) and Chicago White Sox (1923-27). For being convicted as a participant of the 1919 "Black Sox Scandal", he was banned from professional baseball for life by Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis. He ended his career with record of 82 wins, 48 loss, 10 shutouts, 5 saves, 515 strikeouts and a 3.13 earned run average. Afterwards, he barnstormed playing in outlaw leagues for a few years and briefly was part of the Copper League or Cactus League. He died at age 66 in Laguna Beach, California.
