Sidney, age 81, of Rio, died at Sunny Ridge LLC in Rio, with his loving family present, after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. Sidney was born on Sept. 6, 1917 the son of James and Sena (Anderson) Jameson in Dekorra, WI.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II, spending his entire enlistment in the European Theater as a medic and an ambulance driver. While Sidney was serving his country, he had the opportunity to get into the ring with the famous boxer, Joe Louis.
Sidney met and married Shirley (Cuff) Moruaske of Rio on April 19, 1952. Sidney farmed his entire life.
He is survived by a son, three daughters, a brother, a sister, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and very special nieces, nephews and other near relatives.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; his loving wife, Shirley, who died Oct. 25, 1994; three sisters, Aleda Schroeder, Marie Curtis, and Lillian Jameson; two brothers, Newton Jameson, and Julius Jameson, Sr.; and a son-in-law, Orian Melter.
Funeral services held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio, with Reverend Richard Dowling officiating. Burial will follow at the Ohio Cemetery in Rio with full military rites. Vangen Funeral Home in Rio assisted the family.
