Wife of William T. Wright, Jr.; Daughter of Ashby Abraham Lincoln and Julia O. Whitehead Lincoln

Nancy Lincoln Wright, beloved mother and grandmother, died at age 87, on May 9, 2016.She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Wright, Jr.; her daughter, Pamela Wright Collins; her dearest friends, Betty Ann Smith, and Winston Giles; and her siblings, Ashby Abraham, Jr. (m. Hardenia), Jacob Broadus (m. Mary), Marion (m. Catherine "Kitty"), Sallie Smith (m. Norman A., Jr.), Julia Lincoln (m. Robert Waller), and Josephine Evans (m. William "Billy").

She is survived by her son, Wayne Wright; her granddaughters, Diana and Sally Collins; her son-in-law and his wife, Ronald and Nancy Collins, and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born April 4, 1929, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Ashby Abraham and Julia Whitehead Lincoln. Nancy dedicated much of her life to her farm and promoting females in agriculture, serving the USDA Farm Service Agency for over 20 years, as one of the first female agents. She attended Nelson United Methodist Church and was renowned for her pie-making talent at church functions. Nancy lived a good life, enriching the community of Nelson County. She will be deeply missed by her cherished family and devoted friends.

Friends are welcome to visit the farm anytime to pay their respects. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2016, 2 p.m.at Nelson United Methodist Church, Arrington, Va. with Pastor Debbie Powell officiating. A viewing and reception will be held at the church from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., followed by the interment at Trinity Cemetery at Oak Ridge.In lieu of flowers, which she had frugal qualms against, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made as donations to the Emmanuel Youth Mission, c/o Joanna Clarkson, P.O. Box 582, Lovingston, VA 22949.Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston (434-263-4097).
