Singer, Actress. She is best known as a featured vocalist along with Frank Sinatra for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. She was born Yvonne Marie Antoinette Ja Mais in Savannah, Georgia and raised in Florida. She began her career at an early age as a dancer and singer winning numerous contests. She would appear on radio and gained national attention on the Fred Allen Show. She joined the Harry James Orchestra before the age of twenty and later was a regular performer on Abbott and Costello's radio program during the 1940s. In addition, she had acting roles in several films including "Twilight on the Prairie" (1944), "Duchess of Idaho" (1950) and "Birth of a Band" (1954). Among the many television programs she appeared on are "The Colgate Comedy Hour," "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre" and "The Ed Sullivan Show."
