Son of Henry Cannan and Mary Jane Mordue Cannan (Cannon) Wignall. Married Minerva Merritt December 21,1916, in Provo, Utah County, Utah. He became the only support for his widowed mother, his first wife, his brother Clyde and two younger sisters, Lulu and Hazel when his older brother William died in a car accident in Eureka canyon in July 1916 and his father Henry died of an embolism in October 1916. Minerva left him and their marriage ended in divorce without any children. He married Eva Naomi Cole on 8 February 1921, in Evanston, Wyoming. He worked as a miner most of his life, but tried to become a barber when his health began failing. However,the job offer fell through, and to support the family he went back to mining. He died of "miner's con" or bronchial asthma.
