Mary was the widow of Dr. F.L. Fox of Mississippi. After his death in 1866, she married John Peter Smith on Oct. 16, 1867. She and John had five children, 4 boys and 1 girl. All are buried in the Smith family plot along with Mary's first child Frank Fox.
