Leland Knudsen was born in Chicago, IL in 1900. In 1901 his family moved to Point Edward, ON Canada. In 1920 he went to work at the Goodison Threshing Machine plant in Sarnia and became a machinist, working there until the company moved from Sarnia in the 1950's. In 1921 he married C.H. Adelia Moffatt and they had 6 children, their first child, Jean, dying of peritonitis in 1927. Leland later worked for the Catalytic Co. in the Northwest Territories. He died 7 weeks to the day after his arrival home from up north in 1964. He was a strict but fair father and loving grandfather who enjoyed practical jokes.
