"Funeral services were held here last Wednesday for Mrs. J. M. Constant, 81, who passed away at her home in Needmore Monday night. Services were conducted by Rev. O. O. Hunsaker. Burial was in the Humphreys cemetery.

Mrs. Constant was the daughter of James and Octavia (Aubrey) Hurst of near Linneus, where she was born Feb. 10, 1857. She was married to John M. Constant of Sullivan County on March 5, 1876. They began housekeeping in Linn County, where they lived for several years, moving to Humphreys in 1885 and lived there until they moved to Galt about 1917. In 1923, Mr. Constant bought a house in Needmore, east of Galt. He died Feb. 12, 1929, and since then Mrs. Constant and son, John Martin, have continued to live there. She was a member of the Christian church at Humphreys. Mr. and Mrs. Constant were the parents of 15 children, six preceding her in death.

Those surviving include six daughters, Mrs. F. R. Carter of Browning, Mrs. Fred Morrow and Mrs. Thurman Sharp of the Humphreys community, Mrs. Dale Osborn of Bethel, Kansas, Mrs. Oscar Brassfield of Storm City, Kansas, and Mrs. Hallie Pelletier of Des Moines; three sons, Aubrey Constant of Des Moines, Isaac Constant of San Francisco, Calif., and John Martin Constant of the home."
