John M. Gaupp, superintendent of Oak Ridge cemetery, received word yesterday of the death of James Hoppin McConnell, son of General John McConnell, which occurred in Chicago on Wednesday. Death was due to apoplexy. The remains will be forwarded to this city and will arrive here Saturday, accompanied by his brother, Judge Samuel P. McConnell, formerly of the criminal court of Chicago, but now of New York, and his wife, Mrs. James H. McConnell. These are the only survivors. The interment will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mr. McConnell was born in this city and was about 60 years of age. For twenty-five years he was connected with the Feather Duster Manufacturing company of this city and also started the cordage factory which was located in the west part of the city. Mr. McConnell left this city for Chicago about twenty-five years ago.
