LAURA TURNER DREW
She came to Florida with her parents in 1890 when she was sixteen. They made the three week trip walking beside the horse and wagon that carried their possessions. The party consisted of Laura, her brother, Anon, their younger sister, Osceola, adopted sister, Susan, and a cousin, Mitchell Drew. Laura was a devout Christian lady who had a difficult life, particularly after her husband's untimely death. She supported herself and her sons by nursing. and she took in boarders in her home. In later years she moved to her son's country place where she had her own little house near a lake. She loved to fish and was a good cook. She made all of her own clothes.
