Grandson of John and Lucinda Tilbury
Son of William D. Tilbury and Sarah Weeks
Note: Incorrect birth year on marker, his parents were married 7 May 1843 in Fort Wayne, Allen Co, Indiana.
m: 8 Feb 1875 in Vinton, Benton Co, IA

Siblings: Nancy Ann Tilbury Knapp, Lucinda "Lucy" Tilbury Allensworth b: 1850 d: 1879, and Sarah Elizabeth Tilbury Dempsey

Not much is know about his early childhood, something he didn't talk much about. He was the only son and oldest child of William and Sarah Tilbury. His parents died about 1857 in Linn or Benton Co, Iowa, possibly of small pox. Wilson and his siblings were split up. He and his sister, Sarah, went to live with their aunt and uncle John J Hanna and Nancy Weeks. Their new home was in Washington Township, Linn Co, Iowa. John Hanna was a witness for Wilson and Sarah's wedding. Nancy Hanna was their midwife for their first two children. His adoptive parents are buried in Center Point Cemetery; John J Hanna and Nancy Weeks Hanna. He moved to Minnesota about 1904 with his family where he lived out the remainder of his life. Wilson and his grandson, Roy, spent much time together collecting wood to make ax handles to sell.

His sister Nancy Ann Tilbury went to live with John and Susan Noble in Taylor Township, Benton Co, Iowa. She married Ira Knapp 23 Dec 1866 in Benton Co, Iowa and later moved to Nebraska.

His sister Lucinda was born in 1850 in Indiana. After the death of her parents, she was living in Marion Township, Linn Co, Iowa with Isaac and Nancy Worrall. Lucy married Edward F Allensworth 22 Aug 1868 in Benton Co, Iowa. Two known children were born to his union, William Phillip Allensworth and Jesse Edward Allensworth. She passed away 18 Apr 1879 in Linn Co, Iowa. I've attached Edward Allensworth's petition for her said estate to this memorial until her burial location can be located.

Though separated at an early age, Wilson and his siblings kept in touch over the years with letters and photos.
