Professional Football Referee. During his career of more than 50 years, he officiated games in both the National and American Football Leagues. He served as back judge in Super Bowl I between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs in 1967 and Super Bowl III between the New York Jets and Baltimore Colts in 1969. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. during World War II. He played at the kicker position during his collegiate years at the College of the Holy Cross. In addition to refereeing, Reader served as an officiating supervisor in the NFL.
