Lieut. Waldo Slaton Buried in Atlanta
Nephew of Former Governor Slaton Dies of Influenza in Pennsylvania-Two Brothers in France
Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 25 (special)-The body of First Lieutenant Waldo May Slaton, son of William M. Slaton and nephew of former Governor John M. Slaton of this city, who died in Pittsburg of influenza, will arrive in Atlanta, today and funeral services and interment will be held here.
Lieutenant Slaton was one of three brothers in the service. On account of his engineering experience he was commissioned direct from civil life at the beginning of the war, being a first honor graduate of Georgia Tech, and was assigned to special duty in connection with the manufacture of steel products and munitions for the government. His father, William M. Slaton, was for many years superintendent of Atlanta public schools. His grandfather, the late Major William F. Slaton, held the the same position. Another of his grandfathers was the late Chief Justice Jackson.
The other two brothers in the service are John M. Slaton, Jr., a lieutenant in the heavy artillery in Frances, and William F. Slaton, Jr., who was recently promoted to captain in the 23rd infantry, second division. This is the famous division composed of marines and regulars who won undying glory at Chateau Thierry, Soissons-Rheims, St. Mihiel and Sedan.

Atlanta, Nov. 25-at 2:30 this afternoon Lieutenant Waldo M. Slaton, son of the former superintendent of the Atlanta public school system, was interred here with military honors. Lieutenant Slaton, a nephew of former Governor John M. Slaton, died of pneumonia, brought on by influenza, in Chicago.
