Mr. Halton E. Watkins, 86, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mr. Watkins was born on February 26, 1922, in Guilford County, a son of the late Judson and Sallie Harris Watkins. He retired from Cone Mills in 1987 following 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Garnell Watkins, of the home; children, Kathy Lamascus of Brown Summit, Tim Watkins and wife, Patricia, of Greensboro, Cindy Robertson of Greensboro, Sandra Williams and husband, Rick, of Julian, Jody Watkins and wife, Cheryl, of Stoneville, Susie Waldorf and husband, Bobby, of Greensboro, Elwood Watkins and wife, Barbara, of Greensboro, and David Watkins of Greensboro; a sister, Lucille Chilton of Greensboro, and a brother, Ronnie Watkins of Greensboro; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
