Jean Baptiste was born in Ste Cuthbert, Quebec, on Mar 8 1796, the son of Joseph Ambroise Destrempes and Marie Elizabeth Bruneau. He was one of 6 known children to this couple. He marries on Nov 15 1824 in Ste Cuthbert Quebec, to Marie Sylvestre daughter of Nicolas Sylvestre and Marie Charlotte Guilbeault.

Jean and Marie started out living in Ste Cuthbert till after the birth of their second daughter in January 1827, but apparently through the marriages of Jean and Marie's daughters and sons, Jean and his family removed from Ste Cuthbert before February 1843 to Sherbrooke, when their daughter Genevieve married there.. Jean died before 1881 as his wife Marie/Mary Destromp shows living with her daughter Genevieve/Betsy Colt in Ascot, Quebec and Marie died between 1881-1901.

Note: Jean-Baptiste Destrempes –
1796 - 1876 has been laid to rest at their cemetery.
They have no specific location which leads to believe that he could be in a pauper's grave.
