Dorman E. Kuykendall, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Sioux City, died at Fairview Ridge Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Dorman was born April 17, 1918, at Criders, Va., the son of Ernest and Mary (Spitzer) Kuykendall. He was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Sioux City during World War II, when he met the love of his life, Bonnie Longstreth of Sergeant Bluff.
They married and raised a family in Sioux City and were owners of the Town & Country Motel on Court Street. Dorman and Bonnie celebrated 64 years of marriage on Feb. 6, 2008.
Dorman will be missed by family and friends and remembered for his outgoing nature, love of life, smile and welcoming way to everyone. He cherished his family and loved the Lord.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Michael Abelson; a son and his wife, Larry and Gayle Kuykendall; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers Bill, Blaine, Ray, Tom and Ernest Kuykendall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Kuykendall; two brothers, Paul and Hayes Kuykendall; and two sisters, Leoda Abendschoen and Juanita Snoots.
