Walter J. Shearer
THOMASVILLE – Walter J. Shearer, 96, of Thomasville, died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday at The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the husband of Selena E. (Menges) Shearer, who died November 17, 1994.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in Christ (Roth's) Lutheran Cemetery in Jackson Township. Viewing will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Shearer was born July 14, 1905, in Hanover. He was the son of the late George and Della (Sheaffer) Shearer.
He retired from Moses Altland Contractor in York, where he was a carpenter. He was a member of Christ (Roth's) Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.
Mr. Shearer is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean Stambaugh of Spring Grove; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, George Shearer of New Oxford and Lloyd Shearer of York.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Larry M. Neff, retired Lutheran pastor.
